How to apply false eye lashes

Welcome back to yet another eye-makeup how-to. This post will go through the basic steps of applying false eyelashes, which is really a must-have for every girl. If you have not already tried it by now, it is time.

Depending on the design of your lashes, you can achieve a variety of look to suit the occasion and your mood, from subtle to sultry, from flirty to glamorous, from chic to wow.

Preparing your eyes with basic eye makeup:

Apply your usual eye make-up. Black eyeliner compliments false lashes as it helps to masks the roots of the false lashes and will greatly enhance the eyes. If you need tips on applying eye makeup, including how to apply eyeliner, visit our previous blogs on eye makeup.

Step 1: Apply eyeliner on the lash line of the eyes, starting from the inner corner of the eyes and work your way out to the outer corner.

Step 2: Finishing by trailing off slightly pass the outer corner to create a more dramatic look.

Step 3: Curl your natural lashes with an eyelash curler, along the length of the lashes. So curl once at the root, once at the middle and then at the tips of the lashes, to create a natural looking curl. Eyelash curler is available at Vanity Boulevard for only $5.99.

Step 4: Apply a black mascara to your natural eyelashes from the roots to tips. For thicker looking lashes, press the mascara wand close to the lash line and wriggle it a few times, then smooth it upwards towards the tips of the lashes.

Remove the lashes from its case and match it against your eyes to make sure that the length of the false lashes is the same with your natural lash line. You may trim the false lashes to desire length.

Step 5: Use glue formulated specifically for applying false lashes. Apply the glue to the back of your hands. Use a tweezers to hold the false lashes, then slide the roots of the false lashes along the glue to coat the roots with a thin coat of glue. Tweezers are available for only $4.49 at Vanity Boulevard online store.

Step 6: Wait for about 10 to 20 seconds, until the opaque glue turns clear. Apply the false lashes above but as close to your natural lash line as possible. Make sure that you are not sticking the false lashes onto your real ones, otherwise, you will have a hard time removing them without losing a few of your own.

You would have measured and trimmed your false lashes to the length of your natural lash line by now. Find the mid-point of your natural lash line, and place the mid-point of the false lashes against your natural lash line. Alternatively, you can start with the inner corner of the eyes.

Whichever you choose, hold this starting point by pressing it gently onto the lash line with one finger, remove your tweezers, and slowly using fingers of your free hand to slowly smooth the remainder of the false lashes onto your lash line. Do this gently and one point at a time, like connecting the dots. Some false lashes pack comes with an applicator, which may be helpful for this and to make minor adjustments once you have applied the entire length of the false lashes onto the lash line.

Hold the false lashes in place for at least 30 seconds, to allow the glue to set so that when you lift your fingertips from it, the lashes won't come along with it.

Step 7: Lastly, use an electronic eyelash curler to curl the lashes one last time to that the false lashes blends in with your natural lashes in a gorgeous curve. If you do not have an electronic eyelash curler, the normal one is fine too. Just repeat step 3 above.
